Rashmi asked

Namaste Ms. Kulkarni: My family and I relocated from US after 15 years to Pune. I have worked in HR for about 10 years. I would like to seek your guidance regarding a career in Education/Training/HR. Is there a in person active networking forum that you can recommend, or companies you would recommend that have best HR practices to refer to? Much appreciate your insights. Thank you, Ms. Deo

Hi Rashmi., Management education sector in Pune region is no longer so bright as there are many available candidates offering teaching interest - so, combine it with preparing student for interviews, corporate life etc. It is important to pursue a Ph.D. in the years ahead to stay in this sector. Corporate training is interesting too - you can combine your skills with an existing training ourfit in Pune on assignment basis & tap Corporate to assess their needs & offer your tailor made programs to them. Maybe you need to learn some new skills that corporate requires... but this could be very satisfying work & you would be on your own. Select good consultancies to forward your resume for HR openings. You could do a search for HR network through Just Dial Services. As a starter, your experience in HR- in Food & Beverages Industry can be tapped well in Pune region. All the best in working through all the possibilities.

Dear Arunima, Interesting that you wish to get into education sector, initially get into a B-School for teaching HR Subjects, and combine it with some inputs in Placement work ( for which you have good industry exposure)and as a soft skill trainer ( which is a big need among the Institutes). . As a long term goal you could plan to do your Doctoral Studies so you stay on the top in this profession.Best Wishes..

My office is 35 kms away from my house, should i take a break in my career, if yes for how long so that i can resume work? Do women take break and join back? since it is tough for me to travel with the baby this long, as she is still breastfeeding. Are there any alternate career options for work from home?

Hello ma'am, Due to keen interest in psychology I have recently completed M.Sc. Industrial/Organizational from bangalore Univ. (rank holder in the age of 38 yrs). I had to quit teaching job in 2010. I am a single parent now and looking for work. I am quite unhappy for no openings in Chandigarh in any field for I/O psychologists. I am open to travelling but can not move out of Chandigarh till the end of 2017. Please suggest what may work best for me in current scenario. I am working as an education Coach across 3 states and I am quite comfortable in public speaking. Thank you in advance! -Suman
